CSOs Want NASS To Investigate Buhari’s Health Status.

A coalition of civil society groups has called on the National Assembly to set up an investigative panel that will probe the health status of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The groups in a protest in Abuja accused the NASS of compromising its role to check the excesses of the executive by not asking question since Buhari left the country over 90 days ago
President Buhari is in London on medical vacation while his vice, Yemi Osinbajo had been holding the forth since he left.
The groups, led by Deji Adeyanju called on President Muhammadu Buhari to return home or resign, as it urged the NASS to invoke Section 144 sub-section 4 of the Nigerian Constitution on him if he fails to return home.
The group said, “We regret the failure of the National Assembly to launch investigations or set up a panel to look into the true status of Buhari’s health.” To the group, there are indications that the NASS had compromised with cabals in the presidency and the executive to put this country into ransom.
Adeyanju said, “The leadership of the National Assembly must choose between the Nigerian people and the cabal. Ninety days is too long for a president to be away from his country without any explanation to the people that voted him into office.”
Meanwhile, the presidency had described the call for Buhari’s resignation as irrational assault on the nation.
The Senior Special Assistant to the president on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu said that there is no need for the protest since Buhari had done the necessary thing before leaving the country.
He said that the president ensure the transfer of power and authority to Acting President Osinbajo according to the constitution.
